Dr Damien Pollard has recently left Cambridge’s Centre for Film and Screen to take up a permanent Lectureship at Northumbria University. Dr Pollard has been a member of the Centre since 2016, as an MPhil student, a PhD student and more recently as a Junior Research Fellow at Clare College.

In his new post, he will continue his current research into both film sound and the aesthetic significance of the air in screen media. He will also continue to pursue new research into the emergence of micro-budget filmmaking in Uganda. He will also teach across a range of topics relating to film theory, film history and practical filmmaking. He says, ‘I look forward to maintaining close ties with everyone in film and screen at Cambridge and to following the diverse and rigorous work being done there. It was a privilege to be a member of the Centre, and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunities and the intellectual stimulation it afforded me.’
