I am a University Assistant Professor in the Faculty of English, where I teach film and modern literature, as well as a Fellow of Selwyn College. I am currently working on a book on melodrama across media, and I have recently published on the genre of the ‘family melodrama’ in the journal Screen [https://doi.org/10.1093/screen/hjac026].
For Cambridge Film and Screen, I often teach a session in the MPhil core called ‘Melodrama and Classical Hollywood Cinema’, and I supervise projects related to Classical Hollywood and New Hollywood cinema, film melodrama, and the history of film style (particularly focused around the concept of ‘mise en scène‘).
