My film and screen studies research interests and publications are gathered around three poles. I’ve written on questions of embodiment and eroticism (particularly in The New Pornographies, co-authored with Victoria Best, 2007) and on the cinema of Marguerite Duras (most recently, on Duras’s treatment of cinematic time); and I’m currently interested in the ways in which visual and other media negotiate the more or less incommensurable lifeworlds of different beings.
